No fewer than 17 Boko Haram terrorists, including their families have reportedly surrendered to troops of 151 Task Force Battalion of the Nigerian Army deployed to Banki-Junction in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
This was confirmed by the Nigerian Army in a post on its Twitter handle on Tuesday.
"Due to the renewed military onslaughts by gallant troops of Operation Hadin Kai, 17 Boko Haram terrorists including their family members surrendered with their weapons earlier today to troops of 151 Task Force Battalion deployed at Banki-Junction in Bama LGA of Borno State.
“Profiling of the surrendered terrorists is ongoing”, the army tweeted.

The Theatre Commander, North East “Operation Hadin Kai”, Maj Gen Christopher Musa, earlier said that no fewer than 79,000 insurgents comprising combatants and non-combatants have so far surrendered.
This was contained in the commander's statement while briefing newsmen on recent successes of the command in Maiduguri.
He noted that the sustained onslaughts on the insurgents under the kinetic and non-kinetic approaches had led to the mass surrender.
Musa said this also called for the need to have additional camps in Maiduguri to host the repentant terrorists that were being sorted out to identify the combatants and non-combatants.
The commander applauded the support from the public, whom he described as “unsung heroes” and urged them to sustain the tempo for a speedy end to the conflict.
