Keyamo had verbally attacked Obi for spreading fake news against Tinubu, and plotting fake assassination to discredit the ruling APC.
The Nigerian Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has asked the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, to tender an apology to the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.
Quoting part of the comment made by the former Anambra governor during an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Keyamo asked Obi to stop covering for the “gaffe” he committed against Tinubu and apologise to the former Lagos State governor.
Keyamo, who is the APC Presidential Campaign Spokesperson wrote on his Twitter page on Thursday: "Tinubu has contributed to Nigeria's success, all I am saying is that he should step down and allow others (like me) to rule."- Peter Obi
“This is to cover up for the gaffe you committed by reading a fake post on Whatsapp and wrongly attributing it to @officialABAT. Just apologise.”

Obi during the interview had said, “Frankly, it is something people threw out of context. I was just trying to explain to people the type of text messages that people send. Why will people be sending a message that if I become the president, nobody will invest in Lagos again, I will close the ports of Lagos?
“Everybody knows that Lagos as it is today, the ports are congested and we have need to develop new ports, new areas, we need to expand the business. Lagos is still our financial centre. People have abandoned their properties in Apapa because it has become a mess. Apapa that used to be a referenced place, people have abandoned it. We need to open up all those things and opening them up is trying to decongest the ports by having new ports.
“These are my respected elder brothers and I respect them. I respect Tinubu for who he is and they have even in various times in their lives contributed in their own way in Nigeria. Everybody contributed in one way or the other in the past and they have to be respected and recognized in due time.
“But I was just trying to explain that, yes, the fact that they have contributed in the past doesn’t necessarily mean that they have to stay forever and forever, No! No! No! We must have a situation where people have done their beat and everything, they have to be recognized for it and then, they move on and then things move on.”
