Atiku appointed former Senate Presidents, Bukola Saraki and Senator Pius Anyim, instead.

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party's presidential candidate and a former vice president of Nigeria, has excluded the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, from the list of his special advisers in his presidential campaign team ahead of the start of campaigns on Wednesday.

Atiku appointed former Senate Presidents, Bukola Saraki and Senator Pius Anyim, instead.

He also appointed as Special Advisers a former governor of Kano State, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Senator Ehigie Uzamere.

Former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, was also appointed as Technical Adviser to the presidential candidate.

This was announced by his media adviser, Paul Ibe who declared that the appointments would take immediate effect.

The absence of Governor Wike from the list could not be unconnected with the ongoing crisis that is rocking the opposition party.

SaharaReporters had reported how the crisis in the PDP deepened further when Wike on Friday, alleged that the embattled National Chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu manipulated the May 28 presidential primaries of the party.

The primary election was won by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar with 371 votes while Wike came second with 237 votes.

Wike said the national chairman played a vital role that affected other aspirants but ensured the emergence of Atiku as the PDP presidential candidate for the 2023 election.

The governor alleged that Ayu called several presidential aspirants to step down for the former vice president during the convention.
