The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has said that the only legacy President Muhammadu Buhari is leaving after his eight years as the elected president of Nigeria is crime, incompetence and ineptitude.
The human rights activist and #RevolutionNow convener stated this on Monday in a tweet on his Twitter page while reacting to the refinery utilisation rate report by the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
The OPEC had released a report of local refinery utilisation of its members for the year 2021, in which Nigeria was rated the lowest with just 1% refinery utilisation.
According to information on the infographic shared by Sowore showing details of the rating as obtained from OPEC by Stears, it was explained that refinery utilisation measures the percentage of a country’s refinery capacity that is utilised in refining crude oil produced.
“Despite producing an average of 1.323m bpd of crude oil in 2021 and spending over $25billion on rehabilitation of refineries in the last 25 years, Nigeria recorded a meager 1% refinery utilisation rate,” part of the information on the infographic read.
In his reaction, Sowore wrote, “Refining capacity at 1%, gigantic failure, subsiding criminals instead of citizens! @MBuhari legacy of crime, incompetence and ineptitude.”
