The posters flooded the state capital as the PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, was in Enugu to consult with the party's stakeholders in the Southeast region.

A former governor of Enugu and serving Senator under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Chimaroke Nnamani, may have openly declared his support for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.

Nnamani, who is also the PDP's candidate for the Enugu East Senatorial zone and leader of Ebeano political family appears to be leading a campaign for Tinubu, a member of an opposition party, in Enugu state.

Campaign posters of the former governor bearing the logos of PDP and APC along with pictures of Nnamani and Tinubu have flooded Agbani, his home town and Enugu metropolis.

The posters flooded the state capital as the PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, was in Enugu to consult with the party's stakeholders in the Southeast region.

Nnamani's name is listed as number 350 on the 422-member list of the APC Campaign Council and listed as a member of the local government directorate.

Shortly after, Tinubu's Presidential Campaign Council said his name was announced in error, adding that the person who should have been listed is former Senate President, Senator Ken Nnamani, a member of the council.

Senator Chimaroke Nnamani last month described the presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a strong politician but said he would vote for his own party’s candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Lamenting the mix-up, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, Director, Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, said the mistake could have arisen from the fact that Chimaroke shares a surname with Ken.

“It is an error. It should be Ken Nnamani,” he said.

Before the clarification, an aide to Senator Chimaroke Nnamani said the announcement should be ignored.

“Chimaroke is a PDP Senator. He has a PDP re-election ticket. How can he be in Tinubu’s campaign council? Please, ignore it," he said.
