It was earlier reported that Padiayefa had been abducted by gunmen along Udu expressway in the Udu Local Government Area of Delta.

The Presidential Amnesty student leader, Ovie Patrick Padiayefa has been arrested by the police.

The police command in Delta State confirmed this to SaharaReporters on Tuesday, dismissing reports that Padiayefa was abducted.

It was earlier reported that Padiayefa had been abducted by gunmen along Udu expressway in the Udu Local Government Area of Delta.

It was learnt that the 25-year-old student from Oporoza, Gbaramatu Kingdom who coordinated the Gbaramatu amnesty students’ wing, went missing around 10 am on Tuesday during a recent protest at the Novena University, Ogume, Delta State.

The students of Novena University in August staged a protest after the school authority asked over 500 of them to withdraw over fake admission.

The affected students are on scholarship as beneficiaries of the Niger Delta presidential amnesty programme.

However, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe told SaharaReporters that Padiayefa was not kidnapped but arrested by the police.

The police spokesperson, however, did not provide any details.
