The murdered infant was the daughter of an RCCG student-pastor.

Suspected herdsmen have ripped open the abdomen of a one-year-old daughter of a Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) student-pastor, leading to her death, in Adamawa state.

SaharaReporters learnt that the infant was snatched from her mother, Siyona Special and killed while they were on the way to a funeral in Kodomti village in the Numan Local Government Area of the state.

A community leader from Kodomti, Elias Kadakufo who confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters, said the murdered infant was the daughter of an RCCG student-pastor.

In an emotion-laden conversation, Kadafuko said, "The woman was discovered in a nearby bush by passers-by lying unconscious in a pool of blood beside the lifeless body of her baby.

"Last year, some young boys were attacked and one killed around the same area while returning from a church convention.”

As things stand, tension is simmering around the Numan axis as many residents have condemned the attack, according to sources.

The state police command has confirmed the incident, vowing to apprehend the perpetrators.

In a statement, the spokesperson for the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said, "The commissioner of police, CP SK Akande, has strongly condemned the recent attacked (sic) of a mother and her little daughter by suspected herders along Kadamti village in Numan local government area, that resulted to the unfortunate murder of the little girl and severe injury (sic) on the mother.

"Consequently, the CP has ordered for the immediate arrest and discreet investigation into the matter with a view to ensuring peace and justice.

"The CP warned that attacks on innocent souls would no longer be tolerated under whatever guise, as the command holds the lives of the citizens sacrosanct, and such (sic) unwarranted attitude would be strictly treated in accordance with extant laws.

"He equally reiterated the command's commitment in protecting lives and property while stressing that it is vital to work with other sister security agencies in protecting the fundamental rights of citizens.

“The police loss appeal (sic) for calmness as the Command is doing everything legally possible to detect and apprehend the suspects."
