Nigerian Hunter’s Son Shoots Brother Dead While Testing Bulletproof Charm Bought By Their Father

 Abubakar Abubakar, a hunter's son in Kwara State has killed his younger brother Yusuf Abubakar while testing the efficacy of a bulletproof charm bought by their father.

The incident happened Sunday in Dutse Gogo town in Kaiama, the centre of the Kaiama local government area Kwara.

The hunter had just acquired the ‘protective’ charm. Before utilising the charm, he wanted to test it on his sons to test its efficacy.

Sources said that in the process of testing the potency of charm, the younger child, Yusuf, was fortified with the protective charm while the eldest was equipped with a loaded Dane gun of his father with which he took the fatal shot.

By the time they realised that the charm failed, 12-year-old Yusuf had hit the ground.

Abubakar, the elder brother who took the shot reportedly fled into the bush after realising that the charm failed and that his younger brother was dead.

SP Ajayi Okasanmi, the State Police Public Relations Officer, who confirmed the event in a statement on Monday, said the police have started an investigation and launched a manhunt for the older brother who fired the gun.

He said, “At about 10:00 pm, of October 2, 2022, a report was received at Kaiama police station about the killing of one Yusuf Abubakar ‘M’ aged 12 yrs, by his elder brother named Abubakar Abubakar both sons of one Abubakar Abubakar, a hunter in Dutse Gogo town via Kaiama, during the process of testing the efficacy of newly procured gunshot protective charm.

“This incident happened after fortifying themselves with the protective charm, the elder son brought his father’s dane gun and shot his younger sibling, the charm failed and the 12-year-old Yusuf Abubakar died on the spot.

“The culprit escaped into the bush immediately after the act was committed.

“Investigation into the matter has commenced as directed by the Commissioner of Police Kwara State, CP Paul Odama psc (+).”

The state police commissioner, however, advised parents and guardians to protect their children and wards from engaging in such dangerous ventures.
