Omoyele Sowore, presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) for the 2023 general elections has vowed to fight for any Nigerian brutalised or victimised for their political choice or for supporting a particular candidate.

Reacting to a report by SaharaReporters about how the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi raised the alarm of his supporters being silently attacked and arrested by security agents, Sowore told Nigerians to report any form of victimisation to “us.”

The human rights activist and #RevolutionNow convener had in earlier reports and media interviews condemned attacks on Nigerians, including supporters of opposition candidates by others and security agents for supporting certain candidates.

On his Twitter page on Tuesday afternoon, Sowore said, “It has come to our attention that security agencies are victimizing supporters of @PeterObi, according to a report attributed to him.

“If you know of anyone being wrongfully victimized for their political views or choices, do not hesitate to let us know. We’ll be happy to help!”

Similarly, on Sunday, Sowore condemned the attack on supporters of Obi in Lagos State by supporters of the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

On his Twitter page, Sowore attached a video showing the victims, noting that it is a crime to subject any Nigerian to cruelty and brutality over their political choices.

A Twitter user whose handle is @ObiFlagboy on Sunday wrote, “Attention everyone, this is what the chairman of Oshodi and his boys did to us today at Oshodi because they saw us carrying Peter Obi flag.

“We were almost burnt alive if not for an army officer. We are seriously having internal bleeding.”

Reacting to the incident, Sowore, though an opposition candidate to Obi in the 2023 presidential election race, called on the Nigeria Police Force to immediately investigate and prosecute the perpetrators of the heinous act.

He wrote, “These are @NgLabour supporters of @PeterObi attacked and brutalized by @OfficialAPCNg supporters in Lagos.

“It is criminal to subject any Nigerian citizen to this level of cruelty over their political choices. @PoliceNG must prosecute them accordingly.”

Similarly, the Labour Party on its Twitter page on Monday condemned the attack, saying that an attack on one Nigerian because of their political choice is an attack on all Nigerians.

“Attack on any Nigerian is an attack to ALL and especially to us @NgLabour. We strongly condemn such barbaric intimidation/harassment of our supporters @ObiFlagboy, especially in Lagos.

“ObiDatti movement is a democratic movement and no one should be molested @PoliceNG @followlasg,” the party wrote.
