Akeredolu said that he was confident that the All Progressives Congress’ candidate, Bola Tinubu, would make the establishment of state police come through in Nigeria.

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has said that the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere’s endorsement of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi as their choice for the 2023 general elections does not represent the general stance of the entire Yoruba people.

Akeredolu, who is the Chairman of the South West Governors Forum, made this assertion during a Twitter Space session.

Vanguard quoted Akeredolu as saying that “Afenifere doesn’t speak for the Yoruba people on the endorsement of the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi.”

According to the Governor, “Afenifere is divided in respect of the purported endorsement and the group’s views do not represent the stance of the Yoruba people.”

Also speaking on state police, Governor Akeredolu said that he was confident that the All Progressives Congress’ candidate, Bola Tinubu, would make the establishment of state police come through in Nigeria.

He said, “I strongly believe that the Presidency of Tinubu will give chance for State Police. Today, all governors in the 36 states of the federation support creation of state police. That should be a centre-piece of his campaign.

“There must be restructuring and Asiwaju is one President that will come and restructure the country in accordance with the APC constitution. I look up to him as a leader who would say that come 2023, state police would happen.”
