A man identified as Oluwaseun has narrated how officers of the Nigeria Police Force extorted N160,000 from him and his friend at Guzape Area in Abuja.

He added that the policemen took them to a POS joint and directed them to withdraw N160,000 to bail themselves.

“Escorted us to a POS in Guzape and collected 160k of our hard earned money… F***!!!!Today is a bad day for me… I felt like crying… What if them don kill us for bush??🙇🏾

 

“F***** trailed us from our estate junction and took us to Guzape. From Gwarinpa to Guzape!!!”

 

He added that the police officers threatened to kill them if they failed to give them the money demanded.

“They told me to transfer money from my Access bank to my UBA because I had my UBA atm Card on me. I’m not a fraudster. My crime is just because I’m a young man,” he added.

 

Oluwaseun’s friend, Boluwatife also narrated what happened between them and the policemen via his Twitter page.

He said, “Police stopped my friend and I at my estate junction, forcefully collected our phones, went through alerts and demanded 2m. I no know say this thing still dey happen. Bad day

 

“Another day when you ask yourself if you really belong in your own country.”

 

“How will you accuse me of fraud without any iota of proof and I can’t defend myself because I’m scared you might just off me or make me suffer unjustly till I find true justice,” he added.

Reacting to their claims, the Federal Capital Territory command of the Nigeria Police Force asked the victims if they would be able to recognise the officers involved to aid their investigation on the matter.

“Did you follow them to the station, if you did which station and would you be able to identify them should an identification parade be conducted? Kindly revert to help us Track down, investigate and do the needful if necessary please,” the police asked.

Similarly, in June, SaharaReporters reported that a young man who identified himself as Emmanuel Ojochagbe Peter lamented the extortion of N2,000,000 from him by policemen in Abuja.

He said the incident occurred around Byazhin in Kubwa, Abuja.

Narrating the incident in a series of tweets, Peter said he was treated like a criminal by the policemen who accused him of being a kidnapper.

According to him, he was later forced to transfer N500,000 four times to one Atatu Ramatu with First Bank account number 2038518054.
