SaharaReporters learnt that the celebrity died on Wednesday morning.
Another former Bib Brother Naija Housemate, Tobi Bakre had championed a campaign to raise funds for Rico Swavey’s medical treatment. Bakre said Rico Swavey had been placed on life support and in need of funds.
Bakre had tweeted, “Please help save Rico. He had a really bad car accident.
“We have to keep him on life support and continue to pay the rising medical bills while we pray for God’s miracle.
“(We) can’t do it alone. Please click on the link to donate at ricoswavey.com.”
Bakre has also confirmed the sad news, saying, “We lost him. But thanks a lot guys. God knows best.”
He shared a picture of himself and Rico, captioned, “This is how I will remember you brother.”
Alex Asogwa, popularly known as Alex Unusual, another Big Brother Naija Reality TV celebrity wrote on Twitter, “This was not what we agreed Rico. Rest In Peace #ricoswavey.”
