A resident of the community told SaharaReporters that ASP Abdulmumini was accosted by the gunmen on his way to his house and taken away on Monday.

An Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) identified as Abdulmumini Yusuf has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Ogidi community of Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.

A resident of the community told SaharaReporters that ASP Abdulmumini was accosted by the gunmen on his way to his house and taken away on Monday.

“Nobody has heard of his whereabouts since Monday. But we were told his superiors have been making efforts to rescue him,” the source added.

Similarly, the state police commissioner, Paul Odama, also confirmed the incident and indicated that efforts were being made to rescue the officer and apprehend the kidnappers.

Like in other northern states in Nigeria, kidnapping is becoming rampant in Kwara lately.

For instance, SaharaReporters reported in September that a man identified as Raji Gbenga Taofeeq, and no fewer than 10 other bus passengers were kidnapped by gunmen in the state.

A source close to Raji's family told SaharaReporters that the gunmen attacked the bus at Ganmo Area, Ilorin, Kwara and abducted Raji and other passengers on board.
