PEDPA in a statement by Idris-Shonuga Oluwaseun, described the account in circulation as fake.

A professional drivers association, the Professional E-hailing Drivers and Private Owners Association (PEDPA) Cooperative Multipurpose Society has disowned a bank account reportedly being circulated and claimed to be owned by the association.

PEDPA in a statement by Idris-Shonuga Oluwaseun, described the account in circulation as fake, saying it originated from fraudsters who intend to deceive and defraud unsuspecting members of the public using its name.

The PEDPA disclaimer made available to journalists read, “The attention of our union has been drawn to a fake account being used by some rogue elements to defraud drivers and the public.

“The fake account is quoted below

“0089890931- Bank name: Sterling Bank- Account name: Professional e-hailing drivers and..."

It added that the “PEDPA Cooperatives Account is clearly and proudly registered in the full name of the union as shown below:

“*Account Details: 5400753637, Bank Name: Providus

“Account Name: Professional E-hailing Drivers and Private-Owners Association.*”

“We declare that those circulating the fake accounts are fraudsters who are hell bent on dragging the union in the mud. But their roguery is dead on arrival.

“We have, with this notice, put all law enforcement offices on the alert as we will be smoking out these swindlers. We urge all drivers and partners not to be bothered about this. We also call on the Sterling Bank to henceforth close the said account as it's illegal and against all ethics of corporate banking.

“We hail our members as we work on in these trying times. There will be a lasting light at the end of the tunnel!”
