The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, says past leaders of Nigeria involved in the killings of innocent citizens in the past are now supporting the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Sowore disclosed this in a tweet on Saturday.
“Obasanjo massacred Nigerians in Odi and Zaki Biam, Ibrahim Babangida killed Dele Giwa in 1986 with a parcel bomb went ahead to kill his friend Mamman Vatsa over a phantom coup. General Enenche helped cover up #Endsars massacre at #LekkiTollGate and they’re all in @PeterObi’s camp,” he said.
In November 1999, the army under Olusegun Obasanjo reportedly killed 2,483 people in Odi following a conflict in the Niger Delta region over the control of resources.
Also, in October 2001, the army allegedly killed many people in Zaki Biam to avenge the death of some soldiers.
In February 2013, the Federal High Court ordered the Nigerian government to pay N37.6 billion compensation to the people of Odi community in kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa state.
Dele Giwa was killed by a parcel bomb from the Babaginda-led regime in his home at Ikeja, Lagos, while in his study with Kayode Soyinka, on Sunday October 19, 1986.
The assassination occurred two days after he had been interviewed by State Security Service (SSS) officials.
A day after the killing of #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate, John Enenche, then the Director of Information at the Nigerian Defence Headquarters claimed the Instagram live footage of popular Nigerian disc jockey, Obianuju Catherine Udeh, better known as DJ Switch was fake.
He also denied the presence of soldiers at the Lekki Tollgate.
“These videos were cropped and photoshopped. If not that I am not permitted I would have forwarded it to you. Up till this morning, I got analyst to analyse the video and they said it was cropped and put together,” the retired military officer had said.
