According to the letter, ACP Garba has been using his position as a public servant to allegedly enrich himself to the detriment of the national interest.

An Assistant Commissioner of Police, Lot Lantoh Garba, who was appointed by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, to man the Special Task Force on Petroleum and Illegal bunkering, has been accused of engaging in illegal oil bunkering and aiding other oil bunkers in the country.

This was contained in a petition letter written by a concerned Nigerian which was addressed to the Inspector-General of Police, the Chief of Staff to the President, the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, and other relevant stakeholders and institutions.

According to the letter, ACP Garba has been using his position as a public servant to allegedly enrich himself to the detriment of the national interest.

The petitioner further alleged that ACP Garba had been collecting the sum of N250,000 and N370,000 from trucks that were transporting stolen AGO Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) and black oil.

He wrote, “It is saddened; will shock you to know that those charged with the responsibility of protecting and preserving our common interest ARE THE SABOTEURS - ACP LOT L. GARBA. (in-charge of Special Task Force on petroleum and Illegal Bunkering).

“ACP LOT L. GARBA assumed office with egocentric interest without recourse for the core mandate of the Federal Government and the Inspector General of Police. He brags nothing will happen to him because his posting was influence by Inspector General of Police’s favourite son.

“He said he has also made commitment to contribute TEN BILLION NAIRA TO ALH. ABUBAKAR ATIKU's campaign, owing to this, he has become so desperate for money. ACP LOT L. GARBA, on assumption of office held a meeting with the illegal bunkers sabotaging Nigeria economy, urged them to be confident and courageous in their illegal activities assuring them of any assistance.

“ACP LOT L. GARBA collects N250,000 and N370,000 from each truck conveying AGO Automotive Gas Oil (diesel) and black oil respectively. To facilitate this, he brought many of his tribe's men serving in the force to strategic posts in the department (outside the money he collects on each truck) by illegal bunkerers and economics saboteurs of Nigeria. If 300 trucks loaded a day, 30 trucks are given to ACP LOT L. GARBA and he would still collect money on each belonging to the other bunkerers- his partners in crime. This does not include the millions of naira he charges for vessels and tankers in the sea.

“It is also pertinent to note, there is no one litre of oil stolen by these enemies of Nigeria that ACP LOT L. GARBA is not aware of and not paid hugely - for his conspiracy roles.”

The petitioner also stated that ACP Garba had started usurping the statutory duty of the Nigerian Police Service Commission by posting some policemen into his task force after collecting N750,000 from each one of them.

The letter continued: “In some cases, he has to post Inspectors of Police assistant Superintendent of Police, (after collecting N750,000.00 each from them for the posting) giving to himself the powers and duties of the Police Service Commission, which is unethical in all professionalism (posting attached with names of Inspectors posted as ASP commanders marked). He posted Inspectors as Assistant Superintendent to enable him continue with his corrupt practices and encouraging the foes of Nigeria economy. ACP LOT L. GARBA has compromised discipline and integrity for corruption and his egocentrism. ACP LOT L. GARBA and his crew are enemies of NPF and Nigeria.

“These are some few of the accounts of his agents he uses for collection of money in the corruption spree that remit to him on weekly basis: 1. 1414824000 MOHAMMED NDAYERUWA an Inspector of Police (Access BANK), 2. 0565861824 DANJUMA RIFKATU BANJI - an ASP (GtBank), 3. 0076259255 Access Bank Account Name: HOLLY KAUNA; one of the numerous accounts used by DSP ALPHA MAHAMU. This Account used by DSP Alpha Mahamu could be POS operator's as he has other accounts used for collecting money from illegal bunkerers with no one bearing his official names Alpha Mahamu.

“ACP LOT L. GARBA is a major problem of the Nigeria state and her economy. He parades himself as a super cop why in actual sense he is a "super curse" and a reproach and disgrace to the entire force. A man without any quantum or iota of integrity,” the petitioner added.
