Some aggrieved students of Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin on Wednesday were seen vandalising school property while protesting against the plan by lecturers to go on strike.

A video seen by SaharaReporters shows the protesting students throwing stones at the school administrative block to show their displeasure.
A student of the school who spoke to SaharaReporters said students were angry because the school management wanted to postpone their ongoing examination due to the planned strike.
"The school management is not being fair to us (students) because they only care about themselves. It is barely four months since they resumed after the last strike action which lasted for almost three months and now, they want to go on another strike," the student said.
Another student who described what his fellow students did as unacceptable, asked the state government to intervene in the matter for the best interests of the students.
He said, "The students did bad actually but the state government should please save us from this mess. The persistent strike has made most of us spend more than three years for NCE (Nigeria Certificate of Education) programme which is not fair."
Authorities of the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin, on Wednesday, announced the indefinite closure of the state college of education following a violent protest by the students.
However, a lecturer of the school, who simply identified himself as Mr Salahu, said the protest was carried out by some students who did not pay their school fees before the deadline set by the management.
"Those students you saw throwing stones in the video were mostly owing the school. And they did that because the management said they would not be allowed to take their exam," he told SaharaReporters.
