The community is located a few kilometres from Gusau, the capital of Zamfara.

Gunmen suspected to be terrorists on Wednesday, attacked Sabon Gida in Magami District of Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing its traditional ruler, Alhaji Muhd Abdu and one other person.

The community is located a few kilometres from Gusau, the capital of Zamfara.

SaharaReporters gathered that the attackers invaded the community around 5:30 am when residents were performing morning prayers and unleashed mayhem on them.

It was however learnt that the villagers also killed four of the terrorists in reprisal.

This comes a few hours after gunmen invaded a police station in Magami and stole the phones of police officers on duty.

According to a journalist, Abdul Balarabe, the terrorists arrived in the community around 3:40 pm on Tuesday and went straight to the police outpost.

He said after collecting the phones, the gunmen shot into the air, causing commotion before returning to their hideout in the bush.

“Bandits attack Magami Divisional police station under Gusau LGA of Zamfara State, snatch phones and other valuables belonging to the police on duty, they also fired warning shots and escaped. The incident happened today around 3:40pm,” he posted on Twitter.

In recent times, security agents and civilians have both suffered several attacks at the hands of terrorists in Zamfara State.

Agrarian communities in the state have also been terrorised by gangs who raid villages, steal cattle and kidnap residents for ransom.

In 2019, the state government signed a peace agreement with the gunmen.

About 15 brand new Hilux vehicles and cash gifts were also given to leaders of different 'repentant' gangs of bandits by the governor in 2020.

But despite all these, communities in the state are still being attacked while residents are kidnapped and/or killed.
