The state executive members of the party believed to be loyal to Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari, on Wednesday vehemently opposed the list and urged their supporters not to accept it.

The Adamawa state chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) list for the state, headed by Senator Aisha Ahmed Dahiru, popularly called Binani.

The state executive members of the party believed to be loyal to Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari, on Wednesday vehemently opposed the list and urged their supporters not to accept it.

This comes amid a bitter rivalry between the First Lady and her cousin, Senator Binani.

As gathered, Aisha Buhari had vowed to clip the wings of Senator Binani, a battle she allegedly took to the courts through a proxy to nullify Binani's victory as the APC governorship candidate in Adamawa, her home state.

SaharaReporters on October 14, 2022, reported that a Federal High Court sitting in Yola, Adamawa state nullified the governorship primary election of the APC that produced Senator Binani as the governorship candidate of the party.

Justice Abdul-aziz Anka declared as null and void the election conducted on May 26, 2022, by the APC and accordingly annulled the purported victory of Binani as the winner of the election.

While briefing journalists on Wednesday, the party chairman, Samaila Tadawus charged members to discountenance the list, alleging that it was doctored by Senator Binani.

He said, "The All Progressives Congress (APC) Adamawa State Chapter surprisingly stumbled over a list of purported state presidential campaign council members in circulation on social media and some national dailies dated 31st October 2022 as a public announcement.

"The said list emanated from Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed (Binani) as Adamawa State Coordinator, who single-handedly generated the list without consulting the party at both state and local governments’ levels for necessary inputs and final approval.

"On enquiry by the party, it was also confirmed that our members of the National Assembly, State Assembly, candidates and critical stakeholders were not consulted either.

"It will be recalled that the National Presidential Campaign Council contacted the party at the national level for necessary input and final approval before the campaign secretariat released the list.

"Therefore, the National Campaign Secretariat did not confer any right on any state coordinator to bypass the party and act unilaterally.

"In view of the above, the party hereby rejects the list in circulation and urges party members and the general public to disregard same.

"The party have noted (sic) the various complaints from stakeholders who have been deliberately omitted and assured everybody that there will be a meeting of the Party Exco, Local Government Party Chairmen, candidates and stakeholders on Friday 4th November 2022 at Muna Hotel for proper consultations. A comprehensive list of the State Presidential Campaign Council members will be released thereafter."
