Some Twitter users, mostly students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun state have started calling out the university’s new Vice Chancellor, Professor Agboola Johnson for increasing the school’s transcripts fee from N8,000 to N40,000.

The aggrieved students, using #AgboolaWhy which trended on Twitter, also expressed their displeasure with some other policies recently made by the vice-chancellor.

A user, Oluwabunmi Michael Awoyem condemned the new VC for making the same system that produced him unbearable for the present generation.

Oluwabunmi said, “As Concerned OOUITEs I think we should begin to pour out our mind! Let’s use the hashtag #AgboolaWhy. Agboola is the vice chancellor! Let’s ask why he’s turning up the heat!!! The same system he passed through is becoming unbearable for us #AgboolaWhy.”

"I heard the VC is an alumnus of this school…#AgboolaWhy why did you choose to inconvenience students during your own tenure instead looking from the students points of view and attending necessary complaints that have been going round for more than a week?" One of the aggrieved students, Bíoluwátifé D’1st stated.

Another user, Damilare Ademola said all the policies made by the new VC are against the interest of the students.

"I think the new OOU VC, Prof. Agboola’s strategy of getting his administration noticed as a new one is to mark it with all kinds of anti-students policies; from ‘no shoe, no entry’ to the latest, increment of transcript fee from 8k to 40k; students are now asking #Agboolawhy," the student said.

"The most amazing thing about this local transcript is that the day I was told to apply for it, was the day I also read that they have increased the price. When I was in my finals, we were extorted also, and we paid for the technology fee.#agboolawhy," another user, @Readgold1 narrated.

In Akinrinade Funminiyi's view, the new VC is running the institution like a secondary school.

Funminiyi said, "I think there are better ways to integrate some policies into the school system cause what OOU is doing at the moment isn't even close. Is it a secondary school or a higher institution of learning?"

Another user, Eyan Seyi-Makinde said, "When no be say I no pay school fees for 4 years, now I wan collect transcript, this new OOU VC wey we never even christen, carry am from 8k to 40k,how do you explain that? To think the so called VC is even an alumnus is really absurd fr. Are we blaming FG for that too? (I paid tuition for four years and now that I need transcripts, the new VC increased the cost from N8,000 to N40,000.) #AgboolaWhy"
