I Received Death Threats From Security Personnel, Ruling APC Supporters For Speaking Against Tinubu, Shettima’s Candidacy – Borno State Cleric
November 11, 2022

The cleric from Borno State had said that with "the VP ticket, Shettima has bigger plans against Christianity" beyond his alleged move to stop the teaching of Christian Religious Studies in Borno schools.

A Borno State-based Christian cleric and Director General of the Centre for Justice on Religious and Ethnicity In Nigeria, Reverend Kallamu Musa Ali Dikwa, has raised the alarm over threats to his life.

Dikwa alleged that the threats are from some personnel of the Nigeria Police, the Department of State Services (DSS) and supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.

Recall that Reverend Dikwa had warned Nigerians against voting for the APC in the 2023 general elections over the alleged anti-Christian policies of the party’s presidential running mate and former Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima.

The cleric from Borno State had said that with "the VP ticket, Shettima has bigger plans against Christianity" beyond his alleged move to stop the teaching of Christian Religious Studies in Borno schools.

Rev. Dikwa went ahead to say that "Shettima’s Anti-Christian Policies in Borno State from 2011 – 2019 — Apart from the issue of over 200 Chibok schoolgirls abducted under his watch and the hiding of Boko Haram commandant, Kabiru Sokoto, Governor Kashim Shettima appointed Boko Haram commanders as Mafa Local Government Chairman and Bama Local Government Vice Chairman. It is on record that the Nigerian military arrested two of them with full arms and ammunition and brought them to Abuja, after 2 years they were relocated to unknown locations."

He further said that “Shettima’s manipulation to reach national limelight — The abduction of over 200 Chibok schoolgirls conniving with the Borko Haram and ISWAP terrorists frustrated the government of former President Goodluck Jonathan by using the terrorist group Boko Haram and ISWAP to push him out of power in 2015. Now the All Progressives Congress (APC) is compensating Kashim Shettima with a vice-presidential candidate.”

A few days after Dikwa’s warning and criticism was published, the cleric said that since November 7, he had been receiving phone calls from different people and directions threatening his life for exposing the activities of Shettima when he was governor.

Dikwa told SaharaReporters that “Some introduced themselves as security personnel - Police or DSS officers, but if I asked which of the offices so that I can come down to the office, they'll just turn off the phone.

“Some also introduced themselves as Christian supporters of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kashim Shettima 2023 presidential candidate, giving me three days to recount or apologise to Kashim Shettima or I'm going to die within 3 days.”

Dikwa said that some of the people threatening him said “I'm attacking Islam and my days are numbered.”

The police and the DSS have yet to react to claims made by Dikwa.
