Leave God Alone. Change A Bad Government Yourself By Adeola Soetan

If a bus conductor gives you rough Naira notes as change, you fight him to change your change for you. "Conductor, are you mad? You better change my change for me now before I show you who I am.." You don't pray to God to help you appeal to the conductor.

When your drink is not cold you call the barman in anger to change it for you. "Barman! What's your problem? This beer is not cold..." You don't call God to intervene.

If a bus conductor gives you rough Naira notes as change, you fight him to change your change for you. "Conductor, are you mad? You better change my change for me now before I show you who I am.." You don't pray to God to help you appeal to the conductor.

When you mismarried, you changed your husband or wife after accusing him/her of many offences. "That idiot is a flirt, dirty, nympho, arrogant, disrespectful, pretentious, diabolical, violent, wasteful, I don't want to die, I am fed up, marriage is not prison..."  You won't leave the fight to God to fight for you and stay put till you are killed in an unworkable relationship.

When “NEPA" aka Disco gives you a crazy bill and no electricity, you flare up, at times go violent with poor and struggling NEPA boys like you. You come on social media to complain and protest at their offices. You don't pray and fast for God's intervention in your NEPA problem.

If your mechanic misbehaves and starts to promise and fail in his service delivery and is fraudulent by buying fake parts, you sack him, arrest him at times and demarket him to your friends. "That mechanic I introduced to you is a thief and a terrible person, be careful of him o, he don show me pepper, if he shows you your own pepper, pls don't call me o.." You don't pray to God to change the attitude of your mechanic.

When your worker is becoming irresponsible, unreliable and unproductive, you sack him after failing to respond to your advice. You don't do ‘kurukere kurukere’ to prayer centres to salvage him by God's power.

As a lawyer, if you suspect the judge handling your matter of bias and other hanky-panky, you don't pray to God/Almighty Allah to touch the heart of "My Lord". You write a petition against him to recuse himself from your case and you secretly leak his behaviour to the media.

But when it's politics and governance, and the leaders you elected to govern you at different levels start to fail or have failed you woefully, to fulfill promises they voluntarily made to you and your life and that of your family, friends and business are adversely affected, you turn to God for intervention. You start defending the rogues in powers and their failure because of political partisanship, patronage, or pecuniary interest or you are just being voluntarily stupid.

The same God you did not invite to fight for you in your divorced matrimony, at the bar, or to intervene in your case with your bad mechanics or the conductor, you are now calling to intervene and fight for you like a thug or bodyguard when you know what to do but refuse to do it? That's interesting!

Are you mad or just senseless?

No, I don't think so and I don't think I will honour you with that indulgence of pretending to be mad or senseless because you are educated or alleged to be educated. Well, maybe you are just exercising your fundamental human right to be wholly stupid or just selectively stupid because of politics.

Great nations are not built by the aggregate idiocy of their foolish citizens who can sacrifice their life, ideologies and principles if any, for partisan interest to enable rogue politicians in power at the expense of the greatness of their nations and citizens. Great nations are built by conscientious citizenry who are determined to make their countries great for the benefit of all. Think and think if you can still think.
