Halilu Buzu was killed in an air strike by Nigerian Air Force bombers on October 21, 2022, at Sububu, Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, while Alaji Gana was killed on November 14, 2022, at Kidandan Forest in the Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Nigerian airstrikes have eliminated notorious bandit kingpins, Halilu Buzu and Alaji Gana in Zamfara, in the northwestern part of the country.

According to PRNigeria, Halilu Buzu was killed in an air strike by Nigerian Air Force bombers on October 21, 2022, at Sububu, Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, while Alaji Gana was killed on November 14, 2022, at Kidandan Forest in the Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

A defence intelligence operative said the terrorists were killed alongside their foot soldiers after credible intelligence revealed their hideouts in the states.

"After obtaining actionable intelligence, the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji (OPHD) eliminated the leaders, several terrorists and destroyed their logistics bases where they stored ammunition, vehicles, motorcycles, and other ill-gotten loots.

"In fact, Halilu Buzu had scheduled an early-morning meeting with some of his foot soldiers in Sububu area when he was eliminated including notorious foot soldiers that included Ceri, Dan'mosalmi, Danbarkeji, Guguwa, Dan Sha Bakwai and Marshall Hana Zuwa," the source told PRNigeria.

Following the death of Buzu, some locals have reportedly expressed their joy as the terrorist was notorious for terrorising the affected area and torturing his kidnapped victims.

Some of the residents have also noted a reduction in the frequency of abductions, cattle rustling and other terrorist activities in the area.
