Operatives of the Nigerian Police Force have arrested six suspects for kidnapping an eight-year-old girl in Lagos State.

This was confirmed by the Lagos State Police Command’s spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, on his verified Twitter account on Tuesday.

Hundeyin said the arrested suspects were Bureau De Change Operators who kidnapped the daughter of their colleague.

He said, “These six conspired and kidnapped the eight-year-old child of a BDC operator.  The child was released three days later bound in hands and feet in a sack.  Preliminary investigation reveals that all the suspects are fellow BDC operators in the same business district of Lagos.

“Suspects will be arraigned at the end of investigation,” he assured.

SaharaReporters had reported how the South-West security outfit, Amotekun, in conjunction with the Nigerian police and other security agencies had arrested no fewer than 38 suspected kidnappers, as kidnapping continues to rise across South-West states.

Apart from Ondo, there has also been an increasing rate of kidnapping on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway with the latest incidents recorded last week.

Last Wednesday, gunmen emerged from the bush and attacked travellers, dispossessing them of their valuables before they fled back into the forest.

A Lagos-bound 18-passenger bus was also attacked close to the Sagamu interchange. The incident left some passengers with varying degrees of injury.
