Buhari Orders Probe Into Killing Of Imo State Traditional Ruler, Two Guests By Gunmen

Community sources had told SaharaReporters that the hoodlums who stormed the palace in the early hours of Monday operated in motorbikes and vehicles.

President Muhammadu Buhari has directed security and law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate the murder of the traditional ruler of Obudi Agwa community, Oguta Council Area of Imo State, Eze Ignitus Asor.

SaharaReporters had reported that there was apprehension in Obudi, Agwa community after gunmen invaded the community and killed its traditional ruler, Eze Ignatius Asor.

The gunmen also killed two of the monarch's guests.

Community sources had told SaharaReporters that the hoodlums who stormed the palace in the early hours of Monday operated in motorbikes and vehicles.

The president, in a statement Tuesday by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, urged the “security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.”

He condemned the killings and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and the people of the community.

A resident of the community, Mr Marcel Obi, who confirmed the attack to SaharaReporters on Monday, had described the death of the royal father as a big loss to the entire Agwa community.

He had said, "He was such a good man; he has helped to curb the incessant insecurity situation we have been experiencing in this our community; it's a pity he is gone."

Also confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relation Officer, Mike Abattam, had said the police are already on the trail of the hoodlums with the clues in possession.

"Yes, it's true but the police is already investigating the matter, we have clues already and we are on their trail," he said.
