However, Professor Okwudili and his wife have now petitioned the Deputy Inspector General of Police Force, FCIID, to investigate the mystery.

The family of Prof Michael Okwudili in the Oyi local government area of Anambra State has petitioned the Nigeria Police Force over one Mrs Chidimma Mariatha Agulanna and her husband Mr Agulanna, who they accused of child abduction and trafficking.

SaharaReporters reported how the twin daughter of the professor allegedly stolen at birth 20 years ago, reconnected with her biological parents in a dramatic episode.

It had been reported that the “stolen” daughter, Julie Ufodiama, a student of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ebonyi, discovered few weeks ago in what appears as a twist of fate and share providence that she is a twin and had another parents.

The dramatic event, it was gathered, happened when Julie decided to learn how to make hair in a shop, which incidentally is owned by her biological parents.

However, Professor Okwudili and his wife have now petitioned the Deputy Inspector General of Police Force, FCIID, to investigate the mystery.

In the petition titled "Petition Against Mrs Chidimma Mariatha Agulanna And Her Husband, Mr Agulanna For Child Abduction And Trafficking," dated November 12, 2022, the petitioners are demanding thorough investigation of how their daughter was stolen at birth and taken away for 20 years.

Okwudilis wrote the petition through their lawyer, Odili Emeka Izuchuwku Esq.

The petition read: "We have been briefed and our services retained by Chief Professor Michael Okwudili and Lady Gloria Okwudili of OSISATECH No 1 Ogui Road Enugu whom we shall for all intent and purpose of this petition refer to as our client and on whose behalf we write as follows;

"Our client brings this petition for himself and for his family. It is our instruction that our clients got married in 1997. They had a statutory marriage. After their marriage, it took five years for conception to occur.

"It is our instruction that when conception did not occur some years after the marriage, our clients were introduced to Dr Oguannua (late) who was a Gynaecologist.

"Our client informed us that Dr. Oguannua of Madonna infirmary was the doctor who managed the wife until she conceived in 2001. Her whole period of checkup during pregnancy was at Dr Oguannua's Madonna infirmary hospital.

"Our client's reliably informed us that the results of ultrasound scanning during her whole period of pregnancy were not disclosed to them but were rather withheld by Dr Oguannua and his nurses.

"It is our instruction that during the period of delivery Professor Michael Okwudili requested that he witness the whole procedure which the doctor and his nurses turned down."

It added, "On the day of delivery, Lady Gloria Okwudili was alone in the hospital. After the delivery, the nurse, Eucharia, was not seen again. It was the late doctor Oguanua who told Mrs. Gloria Okwudili that she had a baby boy and he showed the baby boy to her.

"Our client's informed us that they never suspected anything until, recently when a girl with so much resemblance with their son came to one of the shop's that they rented out to a customer who is a hairdresser to learn hairdressing. Everybody was calling her the twin sister to our client's son.

"Our client's got so much interested in her that they asked for her date of birth with our client's son. The date you date our son was born. Subsequent discussions with the girl made her to press our client's professor Michael Okwudili for a DNA test which 99.9996% suggested that Professor Michael Okwudili is her father.”

"Ever since this issue came to lime light Mrs. Mariatha Agulanna and her husband have used all sorts of means including writing a petition to the DIG FCID, Area 10 Gariki Abuja, who came and arrested our client's and took them to Abuja, where they were later released on bail.

"It is on this basis that we earnestly ask for your intervention and in-depth investigation on this matter so that the true paternity of this innocent girl can be determined. We earnestly count on your good sense of intervention," the petition added.
