Katsina Government To Spend N2.7Billion On Widows, Orphans Of Victims Of Banditry

This followed the adoption of the recommendations contained in a committee report headed by the state deputy governor, Mannir Yakubu.

Katsina State Executive Council on Wednesday approved the disbursement of N2,671,330,300 to cater for the needs of widows and orphans of those killed by bandits across the state.

Special Adviser to Governor Aminu Masari on Higher Education, Mallam Bashir Usman Ruwan Godiya, who briefed journalists on Wednesday after the fifth regular State Executive Council meeting, said the amount would be used for the provision of food items, school uniforms and also clothing as well as education of children of 13,315 victims identified by the committee.

He said the government had assigned another committee to implement the recommendations.

According to him, the committee has the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Special Adviser on Higher Education as well as representatives from the State Emergency Management Agency among others as members.
