I Will Create 'Family Ministry’ In Nigeria To Empower Businesses – Accord Party Presidential Candidate, Prof Imumolen

He said family was the basic unit of the society that would make small businesses thrive if proper attention, resources and budgetary allocation are devoted to it.

The Presidential Candidate of Accord Party, Prof. Chris Imumolen said he would empower and support Nigerians across family lines by creating a “Family Ministry” to run small scale industries that would turn Nigeria into a production economy.

He said the consumption capacity of the country was huge and there was a need to engage in production that would revamp the dwindling economic situation of the country.

Imumolen disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja while speaking to SaharaReporters on his agenda for Nigerians if elected as President in 2023 Abuja.

He said family was the basic unit of the society that would make small businesses thrive if proper attention, resources and budgetary allocation are devoted to it.

According to him, "We are going to make a significant effort to create a ministry called 'family ministry' where we are going to be empowering across the family lines.

"Family is the basic unit of society. For example, China is regarded as the most industrialised country in the world. If you go to China 80 percent of their industries are small-scale industries run by families.

"If we begin to support Nigerian families in different businesses based on the opportunities that is cited in the allocation Nigeria will become a productive economy."

While highlighting his plan to revamp the current ailing economy, Imumolen said he would redraft major government policies that would eliminate double taxation for business to thrive.

"We must ensure we give incentives in tax. There are few industries where you have to give a tax waiver. There must be a tax holiday and there must be tax exemption. Entrepreneurs in Nigeria must be given protection" He added.

He said he would invest in infrastructure, particularly “energy” as a panacea to lifting millions of Nigerians from poverty.

"If Nigerians could have 24 hours power supply, that one alone will reduce unemployment. It will reduce the poverty line because Nigerians are productive and innovative people. What we lack in Nigeria is the right leadership to drive us to prosperity.”

The Presidential hopeful stressed that any nation without peace and unity can never experience progress just as he vowed to work with the state government in rebuilding the security architecture of the country.

"We are going to ensure that our security personnel are motivated. You do not engage security and you don't motivate them. If you do that, the security personnel will automatically become the criminal," Imumolen said.

He said his party would run an all-inclusive government that would give room for all Nigerians from different ethnic, region and gender backgrounds to be involved in governance.

He added that his government would allow the private sector to drive the economy and provide an enabling environment for businesses to thrive through provision of incentives for entrepreneurs.
