He did not challenge the presidential candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu and Peoples Democratic Congress, Atiku Abubakar to a debate because they never show up for debates as they have always declined such invites.

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore has challenged his counterpart in the Labour Party, Peter Obi to a debate.

During an interview on Channels TV on Wednesday, said he did not challenge the presidential candidates of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu and Peoples Democratic Congress, Atiku Abubakar to a debate because they never show up for debates as they have always declined such invites.

“Bring me and Obi to discuss our ideas on your show, I guarantee that he would not come,” Sowore said.

“I know the other two people will not show up – Tinubu and Atiku dare not show up. Emilokan, that’s Asiwaju and Atiku, they dare not show up. Are they going to show up in your town hall meetings? Everybody has invited them, they don’t show up anymore.

“In fact, since they saw that I have been attending professional invites, they have stopped coming including Peter Obi.

“They should be afraid because anybody who has got no idea at this time should be afraid of those that have got ideas.”

When asked if he is not happy with Obi because the Labour Party candidate led in some online polls, Sowore said any campaign that doesn’t address issues is relevant but not important.

He said, “Was I angry about Peter Obi in 1992, 1993 when I fought the military? Peter Obi was not even known.

“Wasn’t Peter Obi a deputy to Atiku in 2019, I didn’t even mention his name. If you didn’t bring him up now, I won’t be talking about him.

“Any campaign that is childish and that doesn’t address the issues is relevant but not important.”
