Another Gunman In US Kills 10 People, Injures Many In Virginia Walmart Store

Police authorities have said that a gunman who went on a mass shooting in a Walmart supermarket in Chesapeake in the United States’ region of Virginia killed not less than 10 people and injured several others.

BBC reports that the gunman believed to be the store manager opened fire on the people in the store, killing no more than 10 people before he turned the gun and killed himself.

The report quoted a tweet by the City of Chesapeake as saying that "Police confirm an active shooter incident with fatalities at the Walmart."

However, there are few details on the actual cause of the incident but police confirmed that no more than 10 people were killed and multiple injured, but no motive has emerged.

According to police, the incident happened at 22:12 local time (03:12 GMT), and the spokesperson, Leo Kosinski, said the shooting was believed to have happened inside the store and that the suspect acted alone.

BBC further reports that Walmart said it was "shocked at this tragic event" and that it was "working closely with law enforcement."

The exact number of fatalities remained unclear, but CBS affiliate WUSA said police said they believed no more than 10 people were killed.

Virginia State Senator Louise Lucas, who represents the region, was quoted as saying "Absolutely heartbroken that America's latest mass shooting took place in a Walmart in my district in Chesapeake, Virginia tonight.

"I will not rest until we find the solutions to end this gun violence epidemic in our country that has taken so many lives."
