According to Giwa, prayers without votes cannot produce credible and competent leaders.

A senior pastor at Awaiting The Second Coming Of Christ Ministry, Adewale Giwa, has charged Nigerian Christians to go beyond relying on prayers alone, but go out and vote in the 2023 general elections,

According to Giwa, prayers without votes cannot produce credible and competent leaders.

Pastor Giwa who gave the charge while addressing members of his church in Akure on Sunday said it takes a fool to depend only on prayers without action as the Bible has made it clear that faith without work is dead.

The cleric buttressed his point by quoting Genesis 32:22-30 where the biblical Jacob wrestled with God during his journey back to Canaan.

Making reference to Bola Tinubu of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket, Giwa said that any presidential candidate who does not consider national unity by balancing his ticket across religious and ethnic divides cannot become the next president of Nigeria.

The man of God, therefore, advised Christians not to allow selfish leaders who only think about themselves and their ambitions to take over the leadership of the country and lead them.

He said, “I can only advise you to study these politicians very well before you make your decision. If you fail to get it right this time around, you can never get it right again.

"Many of you would remember that I advised you in 2015, but you made mistakes to change leadership because they deceived you.

"Will you allow them to deceive you again? It's left to you to choose between life and death. Any presidential candidate who says religion doesn't matter cannot become the next president of Nigeria.

"You have to go out and use your weapon which is your PVC to determine your future. Prayer works, but in order to be effective, you have to act. You don't ask God to give you a leader like biblical Samuel without taking action towards your prayer.

"Jacob left his wives and spent the night alone praying on a riverside during his journey back to Canaan. He did not only rely on prayer, but he took action and wrestled with God. The Scripture tells us that Jacob did not allow the angel described as God to go until he changed his name. The angel later cried out and said' Let go of me!’

"Jacob replied and said I won't let you go until you bless me. Instantly, Jacob's name was changed to Israel.

"Therefore, it takes a fool to pray without action. Today, so many of you pray but you wonder why God doesn't answer your prayer.

"You can't be praying for God to bless you with a job without you going out to look for a job.”
