According to Ismaila, the hoodlums were suspected to be members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Rabiu Ismaila, a Labour Party (LP) chieftain, was stabbed by hoodlums who attacked him and others for pasting posters of a House of Representatives candidate in Osun State's Atakunmosa East Local Government Area.

According to Ismaila, the hoodlums were suspected to be members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“I am still receiving treatments at Wesley Guild hospital, Ilesa after I was hacked by PDP political thugs. The thugs are from Iwara. I was attacked on November 30th by six of those thugs. I was attacked because I pasted the posters of Labour Party House of Representatives candidate, Kunle Gideon, popularly known as Aloba. That is my only offence. We are living in fear in that area,” he said.

It was learned that some members of the party in the Ijeshaland communities of Owode, Igangan, and Olopon have repeatedly cried out in protest of the ongoing attacks, claiming that they had been attacked three times in a week.

Commenting on the attacks, Comrade Bello Adebayo, the state chairman of the Labour Party, urged the Commissioner of Police, Sunday Faleye, to arrest and prosecute the thugs who attacked party members.

In a similar development, SaharaReporters reported on Saturday several people were reportedly injured when hoodlums alleged to be sponsored by the ruling All Progressive Congress(APC) attacked the Labour Party's rally in the Lakowe town area of Lekki, Lagos State.

The incident caused pandemonium in the area as people were seen scampering to safety and running for their lives.

According to a victim, Solomon Badeh, who was still at the scene, the attack was carried out by some suspected political thugs allegedly sponsored by the APC in the area.

Also, SaharaReporters reported in October 2022 that armed hoodlums allegedly sponsored by the APC were accused of vandalising billboards and attacking supporters of the Labour Party's House of Representatives candidate for Ankpa, Omala and Olamaboro Federal Constituency in Kogi State, Chief Peter Ojonugwa.
