It had been widely reported that military operations across the country, specifically Operations Delta, Hadarin Daji, and Whirl Stroke, complained about non-payment of their combat allowances, even though they continued to conduct operations to degrade terrorists and economic saboteurs in the various theatres of operations.

The Nigerian Army has sought for the understanding of its troops over the non-payment of their two-month operational allowances.

It had been widely reported that military operations across the country, specifically Operations Delta, Hadarin Daji, and Whirl Stroke, complained about non-payment of their combat allowances, even though they continued to conduct operations to degrade terrorists and economic saboteurs in the various theatres of operations.

SaharaReporters had in various reports revealed how soldiers in the frontlines complained about the delay and non-payment of their allowances and how corrupt army commanders cornered some of the benefits meant for the troops.

The Nigerian Army authorities have repeatedly denied such claims that it owed salaries and allowances.

It was learnt that the troops are now aggrieved over the delay in the payment of their October and November 2022 operational allowances.

However, PRNigeria learned that the intervention of some senior military officers and commanders eventually forced the troops to abandon their threats to jeopardise ongoing operations.

It was further gathered from a top officer that the Nigerian Military authorities assured that they would ensure the aggrieved troops receive their entitlements.

The top officer said: "The thing is, the whole issue of the non-payment of their October and November allowances was necessitated by some challenges around budgetary approvals.

"However, the Defence Headquarters is working hard to ensure those affected are settled, in the next few days.”

It was also stated that the Defence Headquarters, Abuja, had intervened in the matter and would ensure that the troops receive their two-month arrears of allowances as soon as possible.
