Doguwa had been in several controversies in the recent past; in November, SaharaReporters reported how he had been named in the crisis rocking the Kano State chapter of the APC.

The majority leader in the Nigerian House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa has threatened violence against those who may not vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the 2023 general elections.

Ado Doguwa, representing Tudun Wada/Doguwa constituency in Kano State in the 9th National Assembly, was heard in a viral video inciting party supporters to deal with any who would not be voting for the APC.

"On the election day, it's either you vote for APC or you are dealt with," Alhassan Ado Doguwa said.

Doguwa had been in several controversies in the recent past; in November, SaharaReporters reported how he had been named in the crisis rocking the Kano State chapter of the APC.

The lawmaker in a statement, he personally signed and sent to SaharaReporters, had said he had no crisis with “his leader and mentor, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.”

He had said, “It is untrue that I threatened our father, the governor of our beloved state, Kano, and the leader of our party, APC, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who is my mentor for life, over workers' salaries as published by the online news platform.

"I have instructed my team of lawyers to write to the publisher to retract the unfounded publication, apologise to me, and state his source, the failure of which will lead to litigation.

"Our governor remains my father, my leader and my mentor for life, no matter the fake news and antics of mischief makers, who are hell-bent on causing confusion between us.

“I have never seen a governor in the North who has done as much as Governor Ganduje has done in the areas of security, education, healthcare delivery and infrastructural development.”
