Police Repel 25 Terrorists, Rescue Five Kidnap Victims, Recover Over 120 Animals In Northwest Nigeria

The police in Katsina, Northwest Nigeria on Tuesday repelled 25 terrorists at Karo village.

The village is in Tsabe Tuge Ward, in the Musawa Local Government Area of the state.

The police operatives also rescued five kidnap victims and recovered 86 sheep, 43 cows, two donkeys and three motorcycles from the terrorists.

The state police command in a statement said that it received a distress call from the village on Tuesday at about 5 pm that some terrorists were shooting sporadically with AK-47s.

It said the terrorists attacked the village and kidnapped five villagers. They also reportedly stole 43 cows, 86 sheep and two donkeys and three motorcycles.

The statement noted that upon receiving the distress call, the Deputy Police Officer (DPO) of Kankara was alerted and he led a tactical team to the area.

The team subsequently blocked a cattle route along Tashar Maje in the Kankara Local Government Area.

It said, “The team engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel and successfully repelled them from furthering their heinous mission. And rescued all the kidnapped victims and recovered all the rustled animals.

“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Shehu Umar Nadada, commended the efforts of the officers for the display of uncommon courage and gallantry. He urged them to sustain the tempo until all terrorists are rooted out from the state.”

“The CP also enjoined members of the public to partner with the security agencies by giving them useful information that will assist them in the ongoing onslaught against recalcitrant terrorists in the state,” the statement added.
