December 8, 2022

Mayaki, it was gathered, is working with Enitiodunmo, an alleged killer who was recently released from the Homicide, DIG Force C.I.D cell through the influence of one ACP Sanusi attached to the SWAT unit.

Alhaji Abubakar Mayaki, a Lagos-based Nigerian estate developer has denied any involvement in land grabbing in the state.

SaharaReporters earlier reported that nine hoodlums, terrorising Eti-Osa, Oreki Village, Ibeju Agbe, Ibeju Lekki and Epe Area of Lagos State, and allegedly working for renowned land grabbers, Maiyaki, aka Ajagungbale and Taiwo Enitiodunmo, aka T9 had been arrested.

It reported that the hoodlums were arrested by officers from Noforija police station after invading Odogbawojo village with firearms to perform their land-grabbing “duties.” Later they were transferred to the Lagos State police commissioner’s crack team.

Mayaki, it was gathered, is working with Enitiodunmo, an alleged killer who was recently released from the Homicide, DIG Force C.I.D cell through the influence of one ACP Sanusi attached to the SWAT unit.

The duo were believed to be untouchable because of their closeness to senior police officers.

It was learnt that Enitiodunmo recently led armed land-grabbers to Eredo and Odogbawojo where he allegedly killed a four-year-old boy. He was released from homicide, in other to escape justice within four months.

He is said to have been unleashing terror on Epe and Ibeju Lekki communities without fear of the law.

“Abubakar's team invaded Araromi village at Abijo G.R.A where they attacked some (officials) Lagos State task force on landgrabber with men attached to S.W.A.T, who were working with him before the case was finally sent to the I.G.P Monitoring Unit, where the case was finalised and a legal opinion from Force Headquarters followed but till now, the I.P.O in charge of the case has been accused of taking the file away through the influence of Mayaki relationship with the ACP Sanusi,” a resident had told SaharaReporters.

However, in a statement sent to SaharaReporters on Wednesday, Mayaki denied the report.

He said, "I will not go by the way of vendetta but I will let the good people of Epe and its environs and other people that might have read the purported stories that were untrue about me (to judge)."

Presenting his own side of the story, he said, "On this faithful day, my staff had information that some groups of people were on the company land that I legitimately purchased from Olora of Ora Royal Family with a clear and clean title by the whole family for development purpose.

"On their way to my land, Naforija police officers met eight (8) members of my staff on their way back to the site and they were all arrested and later tag them as land grabbers working for me and Enitiodunmo. I am not pointing accusing fingers at Naforija police station for quickly transferring the matter to state command to carry out their independent investigation on the allegation levelled against me.

"As it was alleged that I am working with Enitiodunmo who was recently released from Homicide at DIG Force C.I.D Cell through the influence of one ACP Sanusi attached to SWAT was equally untrue because there was nothing of such in the records of Nigeria police.

"I want the general public and good people of Epe to be aware that I am not in any way in contravention to the Lagos State Properties Law and I was not hired to invade the Odogbawojo community with firearms or on whatsoever deprive anybody to gain access to their farmland."

He stated that his presence at Odogbawojo is to develop the acres of land he bought from the Ora Royal Family.

"I’m also using this opportunity to inform the general public too that the investigation of all the malicious allegation against me and my staff have been concluded by Nigeria Police Force, Lagos command, and the matter has been charged to magistrate court for fair hearing on the matter in order to give justice to whosoever that deem fit.

"My focus is targeted on a daily driven vision to keep my promise by expanding our landmark, expand my client base in offering excellent services and avoidable housing products with a singular mission to exceed expectation. Part of my role is to secure suitable houses for everyone irrespective of social class, income level and all else. I have a passion for real estate and housing, that is why I venture into it.

"My business has since grown to be a renowned multi-million real estate firm with many subsidiaries across the nation and is arguably one of the leading employers of labour in the real estate industry, not just in Nigeria, but in Africa. I have many estates and that I’m continuously expanding within the shores of the African continent and indeed I am a trailblazer and a game changer in the real estate sector.

"Extract from one of the interviewed granted said ‘that I Alhaji Abubakar Mayaki have never indulged in land grabbing activities and I will never involve in anyone.’

"As we are all aware in Lagos state that anybody who uses threat of arms or physical threat to dispossess people of their legitimate property will be treated as criminals in accordance with Sections 52, 53 and 281 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.

"I support the option of fines to any convicted landgrabber(s) with mandatory six years jail term to serve as deterrence to others. No Room For Land Grabbing Activities Anymore," he said.

He, however, noted that the Lagos State Government has reviewed the State Properties Protection Law, LSPPL, 2016 to expunge the option of fines for any convicted land grabber(s) with a mandatory six years jail term to serve as a deterrence to others.
