Forced Eviction: Nigerian Billionaire Arthur Eze Allegedly Sends Hoodlums To Lay Siege To Niece’s House As Court Denies Issuing Execution Warrant
December 8, 2022

The illegal operation was personally supervised by Arthur who led a team of armed policemen who unleashed mayhem on the occupants and threw out their belongings from the house.

A group of thugs and hoodlums accompanied by plain-clothes policemen believed to be working for Nigerian billionaire and politician Arthur Eze on Wednesday night reportedly laid siege to the house of his niece, Prince Olisa Eze on Wednesday night.

Arthur on September 1, 2022, forcibly evicted his late brother’s son, Olisa and his entire family from their house through a purported execution order which the police refused to show upon request by Olisa and his wife, Amarachi.

The illegal operation was personally supervised by Arthur who led a team of armed policemen who unleashed mayhem on the occupants and threw out their belongings from the house.

Arthur in November 2020 dragged his two brothers, Olisa and Onyeka, before a Federal Capital Territory High Court after he accused them of diverting his business funds for their personal use.

SaharaReporters gathered that some thugs welding sticks and other dangerous weapons numbering about 20 alongside some policemen in mufti again stormed the house, located at No. 5 Ifeanyi Ararume Street, Mabushi at about 8:00 pm on Wednesday, hitting the gate violently.

One of them was in mufti and with a gun while another one with a walkie-talkie gave the situation report to their superior.

The thugs were said to be led by Jahi Vigilante Commander, whose name could not be ascertained at the time of filing this report.

Two mobile policemen were also sighted inside a Toyota Camry car, monitoring the entire operation but did not get down, probably in an attempt to conceal their identities.

SaharaReporters could not ascertain the reason behind the latest invasion by suspected thugs for the third time.

Meanwhile, a valid court order denying issuing any warrant of execution to Arthur Eze to carry out the illegal eviction was posted at the gate.

A letter dated September 22, 2022, signed by the Director of Enforcement, FCT High Court, Chukwuemeka Toni Ubani, said the court never issued any warrant of execution or neither was it in possession of a Certified True Copy (CTP) of the warrant.

The letter read, "Please recall that in your letter dated 6th September 2022 in respect of the above subject matter, you requested for a Certified True Copy (CTC) of a warrant of execution in respect of the suit.

"I have been directed by the Chief Registrar to inform you that the court is not in possession of any such warrant of execution, neither did the court levy any execution in the matter."

It was learnt that the latest operation lasted for about 40 minutes and abruptly ended when there was no response from the occupants.

Olisa’s wife, Amarachi who spoke to SaharaReporters asked Nigerians to hold Arthur Eze liable should anything untoward happen to any of her family members.

She accused Arthur Eze of sending hoodlums brandishing sticks, daggers and clubs to their compound in the night.

She called on security agents and well-meaning Nigerians to prevail on Arthur to leave her family alone.

Amarachi said, "About twenty 20 hoodlums were brought to the premises of our house today at about 8:00 pm. They were carrying sticks and other dangerous weapons and looking into the compound.

"One of them was holding a gun while another was holding a walkie-talkie to pass information regarding the situation report.

"We also noticed that somebody was taking the thugs around and pointing into the compound to show them something.

"Two mobile policemen were in the vehicle watching and monitoring what was going on but they did not come out

"They came close and hit the gate and took the picture of the court paper posted on the gate. My daughters woke up from their sleep and started crying and shaking.

"We don't know their aim and mission but it looks as if they are coming back to attack us."

However, in a letter dated Friday, August 26, 2022, addressed to the Inspector General of Police, Arthur requested for 30 police officers to enforce the order of final forfeiture made by the FCT high court on April 28, 2022, in suit No. FCT/HC/M/5661/2022.

The letter read in part, "We request to be availed with thirty (30) policemen for enforcement in the recovery of the properties of Olisaebuka Okwuchkwu Eze and Onyeka Nnadozie Eze handed over to our client by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission pursuant to an order of final forfeiture by the high court of FCT Abuja holding at Gudu before M.R. Osho - Adebiyi on April 28th 2022 in the above-mentioned matter."

Meanwhile, the matter is still pending before the Court of Appeal with suit No. CA/ABJ/CV/915/2022.
