The Department of State Services has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited and other stakeholders in the downstream sector to find a better solution to end the lingering fuel scarcity across the country.

Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, has been scarce with only a few fuel stations selling the product, some for as much as N400, over 100 per cent increment.

This ultimatum was given DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya on Thursday in Abuja, revealing that the secret police had held a closed door meeting with stakeholders who agreed to end the scarcity.

He added that security operatives had been placed on red alert and would commence operations to bring defaulters to book.

SaharaReporters also reported that the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) had given the NNNPCL seven days ultimatum to resolve the lingering fuel price hike and scarcity in the country.
