He said this on Friday while briefing stakeholders ahead of the official start of PVCs collection, which is set to begin nationwide on December 12, 2022.
Chukwu stated that the meeting with stakeholders is to inform them of the start of the exercise and to educate voters on the importance of collecting their PVCs.
He said, “We are concerned about people’s lack of interest to collect their PVCs."
He did, however, say that people should be informed that the 2023 elections will be different from previous polls.
“There is not going to be any incident form during the election. So, nobody will vote without his/her PVC,” he added.
He also urged political parties to educate voters, particularly their supporters, about the importance of collecting their PVCs during the window period.
Chukwu also stated that INEC would hire 17,000 ad hoc staff for the 2023 general elections across the state's 17 LGAs.
He stated that only about 5,000 people have applied for ad hoc jobs so far, and that more people are needed to apply.
The REC also assured residents that the state's elections would be "transparent, free, and credible."
