Gunmen Attack Gombe Communities, Kill Three Persons, Raze Buildings In Midnight Raid

The Gombe State Commissioner of Homeland Security, Adamu Kupto Dishi, who confirmed the attack, said "unidentified gunmen on Friday night attacked Amtawalam and Pobaure villages in the Billiri Local Government Area of the state."

Three persons have been confirmed dead as gunmen raided some communities in Gombe State on Friday night, SaharaReporters has learnt.

The Gombe State Commissioner of Homeland Security, Adamu Kupto Dishi, who confirmed the attack, said "unidentified gunmen on Friday night attacked Amtawalam and Pobaure villages in the Billiri Local Government Area of the state."

Dishi confirmed the incident on Saturday after an emergency sitting of the State Executive Council presided over by Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of the state.

"We responded immediately to calls about the attack by mobilising security operatives, including the police, the military and our local vigilantes to the area. So far, the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has carried out assessment for immediate deployment of relief materials," he said.

The commissioner assured that security agents were currently investigating to unravel those behind the dastardly act.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Oqua Efiom Etim, while confirming the incident said he visited the affected communities alongside the governor of the state.

"Three people have been confirmed killed while valuable property was destroyed," Etim said.
