Sani urged Masari to focus on providing adequate security for the people of Katsina rather than focusing on the cash withdrawal limit policy.

A former lawmaker who represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the 8th Assembly, Senator Shehu Sani, has told Governor Aminu Masari of Katsina state that is channeling his strength wrongly.

Sani urged Masari to focus on providing adequate security for the people of Katsina rather than focusing on the cash withdrawal limit policy.

Reacting to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) new policy limiting cash withdrawal to N100,000 and N500,000 per week for individuals and corporate bodies respectively, Governor Masari on Saturday commended the policy, saying that it will “help the economy”.

On why state governors have remained mute about the policy, Governor Masari said, “What is wrong with it except one who stockpiles millions in his house and is afraid to bring it?

“It will help the economy. Now, all the money has not been in the banking sector. The central bank governor said that they have mopped over one trillion naira into the banking sector which was stashed in soakaways and other places.

“We believe that by the end of the transition to the new currency, the remaining trillion will be back in the banking sector. I think it is very good for the economy.”

But Sani in his reaction said, “Cash policy shouldn’t be the major interest of my Brother Governor Masari, but the incessant killings and kidnappings in the state; And the need for the President to do more to save and secure the people of the state before his tenure elapses.”
