Twitter users could not load pages briefly on Sunday as the company newly acquired by billionaire Elon Musk went down.

Twitter, which is one of the world's biggest social media platforms worked well until around 2 pm when it went down briefly in Nigeria. There were also reported outages in India.

Several attempts made by SahararReporters to access the app during the brief outage failed with a message popping up and saying, “Something went wrong, try again later”.

This comes hours after Musk shared a cryptic tweet in which he said, "The bots are in for a surprise tomorrow”. There was no statement from the social media company confirming the outage

Twitter’s outage occurred a day before the relaunch of Twitter Blue on December 12, at a higher price for Apple users. The revamped service will allow subscribers to edit tweets, upload 1080p videos and get a blue tick after their verification.

Downdetector also confirmed reported outages. Downdetector is an online platform that provides users with real-time information about the status of various websites and services.

Downdetector’s chart shows a view of problem reports submitted in the past 24 hours compared to the typical volume of reports by time of day.

“It is common for some problems to be reported throughout the day. Downdetector only reports an incident when the number of problem reports is significantly higher than the typical volume for that time of day,” it said.
