The rally was held at the Rwang Pam township stadium in Jos, the Plateau capital.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abukakar, on Tuesday, suffered a gaffe while speaking at the party’s campaign rally in Plateau State.

The rally was held at the Rwang Pam township stadium in Jos, the Plateau capital.

Giving his speech in Hausa, a Nigerian local language, Atiku said, “For God’s sake and for the value of this place, ensure that you vote for AP, I mean PDP this time around”.

Abubakar, who had earlier defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), had rejoined the PDP in December 2017.

Meanwhile, the PDP presidential candidate’s gaffe comes weeks after a similar incident involving Bola Tinubu of the APC, which also occurred at the same stadium.

Tinubu who wanted to say ‘God bless APC’ committed a blunder as he ended up saying ‘God bless PD” before correcting himself.

"God bless Nigeria, God bless PD, APC," he had said.

Tinubu also in October 2022 had said Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, had a vision of turning a “rotten situation to a bad one.”

The incident sparked rumours that the APC candidate who had just returned from London where he went to see his doctors might be suffering from dementia.

He was speaking at the seventh edition of KadInvest, an annual event organised by the Kaduna State Investment Promotion Agency.

“We’re not going to let you run away, your vision, creativity and resiliency in turning a rotten situation to a bad one is necessary at this critical time, that’s why we are here today,” Tinubu told El-Rufai.

Atiku like Tinubu who are both in their 70s disputably may be suffering from memory loss and dementia which makes the business of governance hectic for the two so-called frontline presidential candidates.
