Scores of people were reportedly killed during terrorist attacks on Sunday night in Malagum and Sokwong communities of Kagoro Chiefdom in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

A Twitter user, Steven Kefas said no fewer than 19 people had been confirmed dead from the attacks.

“At least 17 dead bodies have been recovered after terrorists suspected to be Fulani herdsmen launched late night attacks in Mallagun communities in Southern Kaduna yesterday.

“This is coming few days after several people were killed in different parts of Southern Kaduna.”

“2 more bodies have just been recovered, bringing the total to 19, search for more missing people is ongoing,” Steven Kefas later added.

Hon. Mathias Siman, Council Chairman, told The PUNCH that he could only confirm seven persons were gruesomely slaughtered in Sokwong community.

He added that all the houses in Sokwong community were completely razed down by the terrorists. But said he had yet to confirm the killings in Malagum I.

However, Hon. Atuk Stephen, Speaker of Kaura Local Government Area, stated that over 22 people had been confirmed killed in Malagum I, while eight had been killed in Sokwong.

Atuk characterised the deaths as "heinous," and urged the Federal Government and security services to redouble their efforts to prevent further killings in the area.

“Attacks in our area have been consistent and multi-dimensional with efforts of the security operatives and government not seen or felt,” he told The PUNCH.

All efforts made by SaharaReprters to get the reaction of the spokesman for the state police command, Mohammed Jalige. were not successful. He did not answer several calls made by Saharaeporters and had yet to reply to a text message sent to him to get more details on the attacks.
