Black Christmas: Auto Crash Kills 6, Injures 16 Others In Bauchi

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has said that an auto crash which occurred on Christmas Day in Bauchi State, Northeast Nigeria, killed at least six people.

The Bauchi State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Yusuf Abdullahi, who made this known in a road traffic report made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), said the accident occurred in Sabuwar Miya village of Ganjuwa Local Government Area of the state.

According to Abdullahi, the lone accident, which involved one Toyota Hiace bus with registration number BA124 AO6, occurred around 11:50 am.

The sector commander, who attributed the cause of the accident to a tyre burst and loss of control, said that it took the personnel of the corps barely 20 minutes to arrive at the scene of the incident to clear the site.

The FRSC boss said, “Twenty-two people were involved in the fatal road crash and there were two male adults, four male children, 10 female adults and six female children.

“Six of them lost their lives on the spot and there are two female adults, two male children and two female children.”

He noted that the injured persons and the remains of the deceased had been taken to Kafin Madaki General Hospital, adding that arrangements had been made to transfer the injured persons to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBU-TH) for further treatment.

Abdullahi, therefore, advised road users to always be conscious of traffic rules and regulations while plying the roads.

He also urged motorists to always ensure their vehicles and tyres are in good conditions and that they maintain average speed.
