The Presidential Campaign Council of the African Action Congress (AAC) candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has condemned the recent killings of Nigerians in Southern Kaduna and Eha-Amufu communities in Enugu State while the Muhammadu Buhari government paid no attention.
The campaign council in a statement on Tuesday issued by its spokesperson, Onyinye-Gandhi Chukwunyere, lamented that President Buhari led-Federal government had completely abandoned its basic responsibility of protecting lives and property of Nigerians.
The Sowore presidential campaign council condoled with the families who lost their loved ones and the affected communities.
SaharaReporters had reported that since December 8 to date, no fewer than 57 people had been killed in Ebor and Umujiovu communities in Eha-Amufu, Isi-Uzo local government area of Enugu State by suspected Fulani herdsmen with their collaborators from Agala Benue State.
In a similar way, SaharaReporters had reported last week that Islamic terrorists invaded Malagum 1 and Katung villages in Southern Kaduna and killed no fewer than 20 people. Less than 24 hours the same terrorists invaded the community again while security agencies appeared helpless in containing the attacks.
However, the African Action Congress in the statement titled: "Hold Buhari, APC Responsible For The Killings In Southern Kaduna And Enugu Communities," promised that the AAC Government under Omoyele Sowore would secure the country and set it on a path to sustainable peace and shared prosperity.
Sowore campaign council urged Nigerians to reject the old order in the next year's election and embrace the AAC's programme for total liberation, and the revolutionary transformation of Nigeria.
The statement partly read, "We at the African Action Congress (AAC) and the Sowore Presidential Campaign Council are deeply saddened by the recent mass slaughter of defenceless Nigerians in Malagum 1 and Katung villages in Southern Kaduna, and Eha-Amufu community in Enugu State.
"Both attacks claimed the lives of about 70 Nigerians including women and children. Our hearts go out to all those who lost their loved ones, and the communities which have been devastated by these barbaric attacks.
"Tragically, the Buhari-led APC government has completely abandoned its basic responsibility of protecting our homeland and securing the lives of our citizens and all those who seek peaceful habitation within our borders. It has abandoned Nigerians to the murderous whim of terrorists and so-called bandits who now pick and choose where, when, and how to kill Nigerians.
"In addition to the killings in Southern Kaduna and Enugu, the Christmas day killing of Mrs. Omobolanle Raheem by a police officer in Lagos is also a sad reminder that even the security agents paid to protect Nigerians have become veritable threats to our citizens. This is unacceptable.
"We wish to assure the Nigerian people that help is on the way with the AAC's Sowore/Magashi 2023 presidential ticket. When elected next year, we'll immediately move to deploy our political, social, and economic justice approach to attaining sustainable peace and security for the country. We'll address the political and economic injustice at the heart of most inter-ethnic conflicts in Nigeria. We'll build a community-oriented security architecture which prioritizes the safety, security, and dignity of our citizens above all other considerations."
It added, "We'll reorganise, retrain, reincentivise, and properly equip our security forces to meet all existing and potential threats to the homeland. All terrorists, bandits, and petty criminals who persist in the bloody business of attacking Nigerians will be very quickly flushed out and served swift justice.
"No portion of Nigerian territory will be controlled by external forces or their proxies. And no individual or group will again terrorise and sack Nigerian communities with impunity. The AAC government under Omoyele Sowore will secure the country and set it on a path to sustainable peace and shared prosperity.
"In 2023, Nigerians must reject the old order and embrace the AAC's programme for total liberation, and the revolutionary transformation of Nigeria. Any other alternative would result in the disastrous perpetuation of the current national nightmare."
