Gunmen Kill PDP Chieftain, Three Others In Anambra State Community

One of the victims, Kenechukwu Okeke, was reportedly a chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area.

Some gunmen have reportedly killed four persons in Awka, the Anambra State capital.

Sources told SaharaReporters on Tuesday, that the recent attack in a series of bloody expedition happened at one Chief Obi Maduka’s compound within Nodu town square, Nodu Okpuno.

One of the victims, Kenechukwu Okeke, was reportedly a chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area.

The gunmen were said to have arrived in the compound in a white tinted Toyota Corolla and shot four people who were seated inside the compound and fled, leaving them in their pool of blood.

One of the sources gave names of the four victims as: Onyiebo Okoye aka Onwa, Kenechukwu Okeke (PDP chairman), Jude Ebenezer and Obinna Maduka.

A video of the incident seen by SaharaReporters on Tuesday morning showed four young men lying down in their pool of blood, with sympathisers lamenting the gruesome killing.

"One of the sympathisers' was overheard saying, "This one” pointing one of the victims, “is still alive; let's take him to hospital."

Meanwhile, some reports claimed that the assailants had pursued someone into the compound where the victims were seating, and when they could not lay their hands on their prime target, they opened fire on the victims who were seated and being entertained by their host.

Meanwhile, the Anambra State command of the Nigeria Police Force said it was yet to receive any report concerning the alleged killing.

The Command's spokesperson DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, called on relations of the victims to go to police and report the incident.

Ikenga who spoke to SaharaReporters said, "I don't have any such report before me, I urge the witnesses of the incident or relatives of the victim to come forward with information that will help police to embark on investigation."
