Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen have attacked the Ibara GRA area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, killing Kehinde Fatinoye, a staff of the Central Bank of Nigeria, and his wife Bukola Fatinoye, a staff member of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
Fatinoye and his wife were trailed to their house after the New Year Crossover Service by their assailants, who killed them and set ablaze their house, police authorities confirmed to Peoples Gazette.
The victims, burnt beyond recognition, were taken by police officers and first responders to a hospital amidst the wailings of sympathisers at the crime scene.

Speaking on the incident, Abimbola Oyeyemi, police spokesperson in Ogun, confirmed the killing and disclosed that a suspect was arrested.
“Investigations are ongoing on the case, and we have a suspect in custody already,” Oyeyemi said.
He added, “The Commissioner of Police has directed the homicide department and the CID to coordinate the investigation and speedily bring the perpetrators to justice.”
