Nigeria Police Gift Over N43Million To Families Of Deceased Officers In Anambra

Echeng presented the cheques which were under the Inspector General Welfare Insurance Scheme, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Baba, in Awka, the state capital.

The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng, Tuesday presented cheques of N43.2 million to 20 families of deceased police officers attached to the state command.

 

Echeng presented the cheques which were under the Inspector General Welfare Insurance Scheme, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Baba, in Awka, the state capital.

 

According to the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the scheme is aimed at giving succour to the families of police officers who died in active service, and at spurring officers’ to greatness while discharging their statutory duties with the assurance that their welfare is of paramount importance to the administration of the force.

 

Presenting the cheques to the beneficiaries, CP Echeng thanked the IGP for his “efforts towards ensuring a good welfare package for personnel of the Force and urged the beneficiaries to use the money wisely by investing in a profitable venture that will in turn, ameliorate the needs of the dependents left behind,” Ikenga told journalists in a statement issued in Awka.

 

"The CP also noted that the Command had received similar cheques from the Inspector General of Police and it was presented to the beneficiaries.

 

"The families thanked the Inspector-General of Police and pledged to make good use of the money."
