UPDATE: Lagos Police Allege Soldier Ordered Commercial Driver To Drive Against Traffic, Assault Personnel

The Lagos State Police Command has reacted to the trending video showing a soldier and a policeman fighting publicly in Lagos State.

Some of their colleagues can be seen in the video trying to resolve the fight before tear gas was used to disperse the crowd that had gathered.

While the soldier attempted to disarm the police task force, the officers put up a fight.

The policemen eventually freed themselves after using tear gas.

"Na God go punish you (God will punish you),” the uniformed men said as they dispersed.

Reacting to the video on Twitter, Benjamin Hundeyin, Lagos police command spokesperson accused the unidentified soldier of directing a commercial driver to drive against traffic.

He added that the military officer attacked the policeman after the vehicle was stopped.

 

“The soldier, who was a passenger, directed the driver to drive against traffic,” the police spokesman posted.

 

“The policemen stopped the vehicle and the soldier took offense that the vehicle he boarded was stopped.

 

“He, therefore, decided to attack the armed policeman. The Army have been informed.”
